SOUTH RIVER, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating a police shooting that left a man wounded in central New Jersey.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan says the 51-year-old South River man was brandishing a knife when he confronted two borough officers at an apartment complex early Saturday. One of the officers then shot the man, whose name was not disclosed.
